So fun and it went way too fast.
I am not a high-maintenance photographer. I'm a guy who loves sharing what I do with people who want genuine photos of their biggest, most important days. If you want to get the absolute most out of me, just open up, be yourself, and love each other with everything you've got.
Last Saturday, Ben and Emma's family and friends did exactly that. They opened their arms and welcomed me like I was one of their own.
I smiled all day long. I mean that literally, my face hurt by the time I got home. (Everything else did too.)
At one point, Ben's grandfather pulled me aside and said something I won't forget. I'm paraphrasing, but it went something like: "I have no idea what the images are going to look like, but I am really enjoying watching you work."
That's everything. That's the whole job, right there.
When people let me in, something different happens. I'm not a stranger with a camera anymore. I'm just part of it. And the photos always show that.
This is just a sneak peek, there's so much more to come, and I can't wait to share it. Ben and Emma, thank you for having me. Your family and friends, they are something special.
I've been here more times than I can count, but it had been a while. I was so happy to see they still run a tight ship with an easy schedule, incredible staff, food, and ambiance. Some things don't change, and that's a good thing.
The flowers were amazing, as always. Nadine is actually my go-to when I need to surprise my wife Stephanie. Lancaster Flower Co. never disappoints.
Band: Skyline Lights (yes, a live band)
I love a band. It just changes the whole vibe. These folks got the entire room bouncing, and if you know me, you know my second wind comes the moment the music hits and the dance floor opens up. Skyline Lights delivered exactly that. The guests actually danced into the ballroom from the cocktail space when the doors opened, and at one point the floor was shaking. That's no small feat in a solid brick ex-factory.
