They just opened up and let me in. Not just the couple, Gabby and Eddy, but the whole family welcomed me into their lives for the day. When I get that kind of access I am always filled with gratitude and and the desire to make the absolute best images I can make. I hope that is evident in my images. For the getting ready time I had tons of space to move around and capture all of what was happening. The Eicher Arts Center has a wonderful little getting ready cottage that was perfect for keeping Gabby tucked away while Eddy and the guys roamed around prepping for the day.
You might notice that there are a ton of images in this post of the pre-ceremony private exchange of vows. The love and peace of that moment was perfect. I don't see this trend very often, but I feel like every time it is something special. It was an honor to be invited in to photograph something so intimate.
The ceremony was just long enough to include a reading from Gabby's brother and all of the important details. The inclusion of the lasso (el lazo) ceremony was due to Eddy's Puerto Rican heritage. In their case they had their 5 kids adorn them with a beautiful lazo. In 25 years of photographing every form of union I have never witnessed this before.
Then of course, the reception. The Eicher is one of the oldest buildings in Lancaster County, built in 1733 as a part of the Ephrata Cloister community. I think this space really lent itself to Gabby and Eddy's aesthetic. They decorated they filled the space with long rustic farm style tables and simple fresh bouquets in glass vases by Central Market Flowers. The family style bread board had my mouth watering. Dang, I love bread.
The dancing was on the deck and was super high energy, just he way I like it. There were no circle dancers here. Just pure celebratory Latin dancing. I NEED this at every wedding. That and cake of course. Plenty of cake.
Gabby and Eddy, I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed photographing your wedding.
