Photokindred is more than just two words run together. It’s a return to something I’ve always believed in: that photography should feel real, honest, and deeply connected. I'm Joel Wiebner, a wedding photographer based in Lancaster County, PA. After stepping away from the wedding world for a few years, I created Photokindred to offer something more meaningful than just beautiful pictures.

For over two decades, I’ve photographed hundreds of weddings. What’s always drawn me in isn’t the decor or the beautiful venue. It’s the people. The in-between moments. The quiet emotion on a parent's face. The wild laughter during a toast. I’ve always sought out those true, unscripted moments that help you relive the day exactly as it was.

When I decided to come back to weddings, I knew I didn’t want to do it the same way I had before. I wanted to strip it back to what matters most. I wanted the couples I work with to feel seen and safe — to feel like they can be themselves and trust me to do the rest. That’s what Photokindred is built on: presence, empathy, and a deep respect for memory.

The name itself comes from the feeling I want you to have when you look back at your images. Photos that feel like kin. That feel like they’ve always belonged to you and always will. That connect you with your people, your story, your life as it really is. I’m not here to stage a perfect version of your day. I’m here to honor it as it unfolds.
